Born in Beijing, China (also known as Peking City) on January 1, 1932, Chinling Jau-Wu was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her late husband, 3 children, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters. Her love for her family knew no bounds, even selling her own blood to the blood bank to buy baby formula and feed her newborn baby during challenging times. In her later years, Chinling bravely left her home in Taiwan and moved across the Pacific Ocean to Seattle, Washington to build a new life and home where she continued supporting her family—from homemaking and caring for her two new granddaughters, to working long, hard hours in the family diner in Downtown Seattle.
To her two granddaughters, she was a caring grandmother who always spoiled them with delicious meals, gifts, and boundless love. Chinling always made sure the dinner table was filled with their favorite dishes, and more.
Her energy and spirit lit up every room she entered. Whenever a camera was present, she would strike her iconic peace sign and shout an emphatic “Yeah!”
For her entire family, Chinling Jau-Wu was the feeling of being home. We all miss you dearly.
