EJ was born to Florence and Ernest Ferullo on February 11, 1933 in Seattle, WA. After graduating Seattle Prep High School EJ attended Seattle University where he enrolled in the ROTC program. Upon graduating with a degree in Finance in the spring of 1955 EJ was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Upon his discharge from the Army EJ formally began his career in the highway construction business. EJ represented the 3rd generation to enter Fiorito Brothers, Inc. and it was a business that he truly loved. EJ was happiest being in the field and pushing the work. In 1965 he became an owner and over time assumed more general management duties, but his love was always production and building.
On September 25, 1965 EJ married Jo Macy. EJ and Jo went on to have 2 sons, Gregg (54) and Brett (51). Family time was always the top priority, and when he wasn’t working EJ was spending time with his family. And one thing was for certain, a Sunday dinner was not to be missed. EJ loved it when Gregg and Brett had friends over at the house and all were welcome. EJ always enjoyed being “one of the guys”.
In 1990 Fiorito Brothers split up and EJ bought Northwest Construction along with his cousin and former business partner John Merlino. Gregg joined the company at its founding. In 1997 Brett joined the business and, in 1998 EJ purchased John’s shares. In 2000 EJ began selling his shares to Gregg and Brett. He retired from daily operations in 2004. In retirement, EJ pursued golf and generally spent his time with his close group of friends and his family.
EJ is survived by his sister Janice Picatti, his sons Gregg and Brett and his 6 grandchildren: Anna, Joey, Jake, Macy, Max and Nick as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
