Joyce Elizabeth Green

Joyce Elizabeth Green (nee Carter), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully December 2022. She was 93 years old. Born to Marion and Ethel Carter in May of 1929, Joyce was reared and educated in a Christian home. After the death of her mother, she resided under the guidance of her aunts, Ethel Gavin and Twitha Nichols, Later, she moved to Seattle, with her Aunt Ethel and Uncle Claude Gavin, and attended Lincoln and Garfield high schools, as well as Edison Technical School. While in Seattle, she met and married James Green. James departed this life after 49 years of marriage.

She was employed by Seattle Public Schools, Group Health Hospital and was a private home caregiver.

Joyce was very active in Seattle's black church community. She attended People's Institutional Baptist Church. After she and James were married, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In later years. she was pianist at Shilo Missionary Baptist Church.

Joyce leaves to celebrate her life, 4 children Robin Kane (Philip), James Green (Yvette), Ethel Green and Gigi Green.

Ten grandchildren, Martina McGraw, Camille Green, Hannah Green, Ruth Kane, David Kane, Ben Rodriguez (Erica), Olivia Green, Sarah Kane, Ann Kane, and Paul Kane. And 4 Great grandchildren, Qionjanae Green, Nasir Green, NaShawn Hayes and NaShé Hayes.

A memorial service will be held at a future time.
