A devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother, she was born in Canton, China on November 8, 1938, and came to San Francisco by way of Hong Kong. As a gifted seamstress, she attended a renowned design and sewing school in Hong Kong, gaining valuable lifelong skills that would shape her career. She immigrated to San Francisco in 1961 with her parents and siblings, studying English for a year while also teaching Chinese at the Chung Hua Community Center. In 1963, her best friend Helen Chinn introduced her to Jack Wong of Seattle, and after a whirlwind courtship, they married and she moved to the Pacific Northwest. With her sewing talents, she quickly found work at an alterations shop on Capitol Hill. Later, she became a customer favorite as head seamstress at Seattle’s elegant Ruth Hill/John Doyle Bishop boutique. For decades, friends, family and customers flocked to her for her handmade dresses and cheongsams. Louise was also an active member of the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church.
Most of all, she relished being a grandmother, marveling at her special connection with Matthew, Olivia and Alexa. She leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Gilman Wong and Tessie Wu of Redmond and Gorman Wong and Susan Han of Bellevue; sisters Kelly Chow of Vancouver, BC and Betty Yee of San Francisco; brothers Joe Yee of Cupertino and John Yee of South San Francisco; three grandchildren, nephews, nieces, a grand-nephew, grand-nieces, great grand-nephews and other loved ones.
A service will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 at 1pm at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue. Interment following at Sunset Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church. Arrangements entrusted to Sunset Hills Funeral Home, Bellevue.
