

Oscar W “Bill” Puetz was born in Seattle on December 17, 1934 to Oscar Puetz and Hazel Moore. He had five siblings: Ted, Jerry, Shirley Dee, and one brother who died early. His mother, Hazel, died when she was in her early 30s. His father Oscar remarried and Bill gained two step-brothers: Rick and Dan.
Bill graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. From the time he was a teenager he worked in the family business, Queen City Sheet Metal and Roofing. Bill worked his way up in the field and became an estimator. He worked there his whole career until his retirement.
After high school he married and had two sons from his first marriage; Ron and Jeff.
In the early 1980s he met Carolyn at the Riverside Inn. His brother’s wedding was the next day. Bill sent his friend Dennis over to ask Carolyn to dance. She was firm that he had to ask her himself. Their first date was a week later. They became an instant pair. They married in 1987 and bought a home in Renton in 1986. Bill and Carolyn were together for 40 years.
Bill took on Carolyn’s children Laura and Matthew who were teens at the time and who knew him as their second dad. They lived in Renton for 36 years before retiring in Shelton.
Bill was a family man who loved his children. He was proud of his marriage. In Carolyn he finally found his home. They were good together, with a natural compatibility. They enjoyed traveling together; taking road trips to Palm Springs. They went to Mexico, and on several cruises.
Bill was an avid reader. He loved golf. But most of all he loved holidays and spending time with his family. Christmas was his favorite time when family gathered around. He enjoyed eating anything that Carolyn put on the table.
Bill will be remembered as a man who was well-liked by everyone. He will also be remembered as a man who loved his family. His smiles and his humor warmed everyone. He was a gentle, caring person, who loved nothing more than to be in the middle of family gatherings.
Oscar "Bill" W Puetz, age 86, of Union, Washington passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021. He was 86 years old.
He was predeceased by three siblings Rick, Jerry, and Shirley, and by his son Jeff.
He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn. He also leaves behind his son Ron, his stepchildren Laura and Matt; three grandsons: Matt, Tyler and Jason, and two great-grandchildren: Lily and Colby. He leaves two surviving brothers, Ted and Dan and one sister, Dee to mourn his passing.
