

Shirley Pauline Steiner, age 88, died peacefully on September 8, 2014, at Wilburton Home in Bellevue, Washington. Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 15, 1926, the daughter of Nicholas Schneiders and Geneveive Carravallah.
Shirley attended Wayne State University and graduated with a Liberal Arts and Sciences degree in English. In 1951, Shirley joined the US Navy Reserves, known as the WAVES, where she served for 2 years as a Communications Technician Seaman.
In 1957 Shirley married Robert G. Steiner on March 16, and moved to Washington State where they worked and raised a family. Shirley had various jobs working at Boeing, selling Real Estate and in Banking, but her real passion was raising her three sons and dedicated the rest of her life as a stay at home mother.
In addition to raising her three children, she also volunteered at their schools, enjoyed painting and could be found in the evenings with her many crossword puzzles. Shirley also loved to collect leaves and could always find some little treasure hidden in between the pages of her favorite books.
Shirley is survived by her sister Anna Marie; sons, Alan Robert, Ronald Brian and Glenn Steven; three nieces, Kristina, Cassandra and Lauren and three nephews, Steven, Kyle and Glenn “Michael”.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30am at the Sunset Hills Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Bellevue, WA at 1215 – 145th Place SE. There will be a private graveside service and burial for immediate family members after the service. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a reception afterwards starting at 12:00am.
