Jamie was born on March 6, 1962, at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, the daughter of Ronald and Susan Smith. Jamie grew up in Fort Smith and moved to Booneville, Arkansas before her junior year. She attended Booneville High School, where she graduated with honors. In 1980, she attended Arkansas Tech University where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. She graduated with honors in 1985 with a degree in computer science. She married Randall (Randy) Ervin on November 19, 1983.
Jamie and Randy moved several times during Randy’s career with Sherwin-Williams, finally settling in Northwest Arkansas in 2003. Jamie accepted each move as an adventure and a chance to make a better life for her and her family. Jamie and Randy joined First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas where Jamie served in several capacities, including Vacation Bible School where she was in charge of “Snacks” for several years. She would recruit Randy to help. She was Batman to Randy’s Robin. After stepping down as leader, she would still serve in “Snacks” up till 2025. The friends Jamie made, known as the “Tribe,” have lasted a lifetime.
Jamie is survived by her husband Randy, of Centerton, Arkansas; two sons Taylor (Savannah) of Gentry, Arkansas and Isaac of Hutchinson, Kansas; her father Ronald Smith of Lavaca, Arkansas; her brother Greg Smith of Booneville, Arkansas; and her sister Stephanie Smith of Lavaca, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Jamie was preceded in death by her mother Susan and her in-laws Clarence and Avis Ervin.
