Jimmy Mack Ray, born June 12, 1936, in Central Arkansas south of Little Rock and a resident of Rogers Arkansas, rode his Highway to Heaven on Thursday, August 5th, 2021. He exemplified everything a person could be respected for in this world: honesty, his love for the Lord, compassion, integrity and kindness towards others.
As a young boy, Jimmy would tinker with his father’s tools tearing cars apart and rebuilding them. He soon developed a reputation in his community as the “go-to” mechanic. His passion for cars and astute mechanic skills rebuilding Cushman Scooters and later Triumph Motorcycles launched his career. Jimmy loved riding motorcycles to school and graduated from Central High of Little Rock in 1955. After working as a mechanic at various dealerships until 1958, he was hired as an apprentice Engine Builder with Tai-Coppess VW of Little Rock. He would then go on to not only become the sole Certified VW Engine Builder in 4 states but was highly sought after by various Dealers for their Service Business and went on own and operate many dealerships of his own throughout Arkansas and Mississippi.
In 1985, he met and married his best friend, Carol Ray, and enjoyed 35 wonderful years together full of love and adventure.
Jimmy’s legacy is living on through his wife Carol Ray, Brother Floyd Ray and his spouse, sister-in-law Joanm, sons Rob Ray and Rick Kumpf , a daughter Tamela Dean Ray Anchondo and their spouses and grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his daughter Reneta Ray.
