Josephine was also know as Ms Jo, Mother, Mom, Bom Bom , Grandma and GG. She was born in Rogers, Arkansas to Grover and Bertha Hays on December 9,1930. She was the youngest of 7 children.
Mother was a Christian, a true believer, and a long time member of the Rogers First Church of the Nazarene. She was a faithful wife for over 48 years to Don Rakes. She played cards with her lady friends for a number of years. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother to the end. She was a happy and fun lady to be around and she loved everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 brothers and 4 sisters; husband, Don Rakes; a daughter, Deanna Rounds; and a great-grandson, Nathan Fairchild, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Reid) Fairchild, Alan (Kennita )Rakes, Dennis (Karen) Rakes, Sharon (Billy) Witcofski, and a son-in-law, Mike Rounds. Also survived by Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren and one Great - Great Grandchild. She will be dearly missed by all of us, as she was so involved in our lives, celebrating all the birthdays and just being there with us.
We wouId like to thank Innisfree Assisted Living, where our Mother lived for over 3 years. Also, we extend our most sincere gratitude to Diane and her staff at Apple Creek Health and Rehab in Centerton, Arkansas for the day to day care for over a year and a half and the end of life care they, and Hospice, provided for our precious Mother.
