Betty Jean English

On this day of our Lord September 17th 2013, heaven has added another angel. Betty joined our lord Jesus Christ, and her loved ones who have predeceased her, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. As in life, she was stubborn with death; she fought long and hard before finally surrendering. She is survived by her daughter, best friend, confidant, partner in crime and care giver for the last years of her life, Stephanie (Evans) Thurman and son-in-law Tony of Houston, TX; her son and constant source of worry, Steven S English of Oklahoma City, OK, her daughter who always loved her chalupas, Sherry L. Briegel of Trenton, MO, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many friends and loved ones. Betty began her career as an airline Stewardess for Continental Airlines before meeting her husband and father of their children Ferd B (Barney) English. She was a housewife that enjoyed raising and spending time her children. Later in life she joined the Oklahoma City Police Department where she spent 20+ years serving the public and making life long friends. In her later years she loved traveling to Hawaii (we lost track if how many trips) and of course, she was a long time Sooners fan. Betty had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered fondly for her kindness to all she touched. Services will be held at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 21st.
