
Carmen Marie Leon, 94, died February 7, 2017. She was born on May 20, 1922 in Okmulgee to Jesse and Maria Rios. She graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School and worked for the Okmulgee Daily newspaper while volunteering for the Red Cross during World War II. She married Joseph J. Leon in 1946. After residing in Kansas City, MO and Milwaukee, WI they moved to Oklahoma City in 1951. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked for Putnam City Schools and then as a caregiver. She and her husband were charter members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She volunteered throughout the years in numerous parish activities, including the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Legion of Mary. She was honored as Woman of Achievement for her many contributions. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Teresa, brother, Jesse and sister, Lupe. She is survived by sons, John and wife Cheryl, Phillip and wife, Linda, and daughter, Marcy and husband, Don Gray, 7 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. A rosary will be held at St. Charles, 5424 N. Grove, OKC on Thursday, Feb 9, at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles on Friday, Feb 10, at 10AM with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Charles or a charity of your choice.
