Doris Louise Hicks, age 96, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024. She was born September 2, 1928 in Meridian, Mississippi to Elijah and Edna Harbour. She grew up in the country with her brother, Thomas. Doris moved to Oklahoma in the mid 1950’s where she made her home. She took pride in a hard day’s work as a waitress and raising her son. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Doris lived her life with grace and dignity and will be incredibly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Harbour; and grandson, Tyrone Hicks.
She is survived by her son, Buster Hicks; grandchildren, Donna Kay Pershall and Carla Sue Hicks; granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Pershall; and great grandchildren, Tyler Arnett and Trent and Tate Hadley.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
Graveside services will be 2pm Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
