

He was born to the late Louis Halbig and Dessie McWhorter (née Stansberry) on March 25, 1934 in Mangum, Oklahoma. Ed graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1953 and received his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (Oklahoma A&M). Following graduation, Ed served in the U.S. Army and, after honorable discharge, began a career in aerospace.
Edward married Annie Boyd of Scotland in 1970 and together they lived in Harbor City, California before returning to Oklahoma in 1980. Ed joined Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) and worked as a telecommunications technician until his retirement in 2004.
Ed is survived by his wife Annie, his two daughters: Lorna Halbig of Oklahoma City; and Katrina Halbig-Wampler of Atlanta, as well as his son-in-law John and two grandchildren, Anna and James. He is also survived by his sister Wanda Sue Hervey; brothers and sisters-in-law Senga and James Gollogly; John and Mary Boyd, David and Christine Boyd; and numerous nieces and nephews around the world.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8:00pm on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK, 73008. The memorial service, also at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, will be Saturday, February 23 at 10:00, followed by a small grave side memorial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
