Gladys Marie (Robertson) Clifton, age 77 went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 20, 2013. Gladys was born January 2, 1936 in Oklahoma City. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Gladys Elizabeth and John Thomas Robertson.
Gladys was a young girl, still in high school when she met the love of her life, James Orville (Jim) Clifton. They married in April 1954. One year later, they welcomed their first child, daughter Terri Lynne, the apple of her father's eye. In 1961, their first born son, Kevin Dale came into the world as the spitting image of his daddy. In 1964, their third child was born, son James Randall (Randy) Clifton, blessed to carry the name of his father and pass it on to future generations. Together, Gladys and Jim built their life in Bethany Oklahoma, where Gladys worked at Roy Stott's Service Center for more than 20 years. Gladys overcame many obstacles in her life, but one of her proudest accomplishments was her sobriety of almost 30 years, which she credits to God and Bill W., the founder of AA. Gladys was also a breast cancer survivor. Gladys was a person who got better as time went on. Her character, her beauty, her resilience, developed more with each passing year and made her into the woman, mother, and grandmother we loved. Gladys would say, "God is a God of second chances...and third...and fourth...and so on, and so on." She was a living testament to God's grace. Gladys loved to play games with her friends and family, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, chocolate, and diet Coke. Gladys was a member of First Baptist Church of Bethany.
She will be dearly missed by her "womb mate" and best friend, Gloria Stone, brother Charles Robertson, brother Gary Robertson, sister Alice Harris, daughter Terri and husband Randy Simmons , son Kevin Clifton and wife Kelly, and son Randy Clifton and wife Robyn; six grandchildren, Amber, and husband Travis Halley, Zack Clifton and wife Erin, Stephanie, and husband Jon Elliott, Kaleigh Clifton, Drake Weeks, and wife Lauren, Cody Clifton, and wife Janette; eight great-grandchildren, Jackson Elliott, Lilly Lynch, Cole Elliott, Austyn Allison, Autumn Clifton, Bennett Weeks, Carter Clifton, and Benjamin Elliott. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys Robertson, husband, Jim Clifton and sister Doris Lackey.
