Harold Wayne Mattison, age 76, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019. He was born on March 7, 1943 in National City, CA, the son of Harold Kenneth and Ruby (Hill) Mattison. Wayne played the violin and was one of three junior high schoolers to play in the All-City Orchestra. Disappointed that no one would teach him how to play like Bob Wills, he switched to sports in high school where he medaled in high hurdles. He met Linda Tuttle at Pennzoil where they were both employed. They married in 1974 and relocated to OKC in 1977. His working years covered a variety of occupations. He owned a neighborhood grocery in Missouri City, TX with his father; he attended Grayson County School of Piano Tuning in Denison, TX where he learned that trade. After tuning and refurbishing pianos for several years, he bought the Baskin-Robbins in downtown OKC. As a result of the oil bust, he traded mixing malts for mixing paint at Kelly-Moore where he worked until he retired in 2005. Wayne was a kindhearted, fun-loving person, generous to a fault. He loved puttering in the yard and the garage, grilling burgers for family gatherings and watching the Thunder and OSU Pokes from the comfort of his recliner. He is a member of Quail Springs United Methodist Church. Wayne is survived by his wife Linda, a sister, Patsy Bolton, of Austin, TX and Linda’s sister, Marcia Tuttle of OKC.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the Quail Springs UMC Building Fund.
