

Henry Pierre Blanchard, III born May 14, 1929 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but moved to New Orleans soon after and grew up there. Henry went to his heavenly reward on November 24, 2011. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force form 1946 until 1949. He married Grace Everett, his sweetheart, on May 23, 1952, at Jernigan Memorial Church of the Nazarene where they attended and are still members. He graduated from Bethany Nazarene College in 1954. He worked as a carpenter most of his life in the OKC area. Henry also worked at the Oklahoma City Clinic for 9 years and at Elm Tree House for several years. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Dwain Glen Blanchard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Grace Blanchard, and their 5 children, Frances Mutz, Marsha and husband Rick Knott, Darrell Blanchard and wife Dottie, Ann Sumner, and Cecilia and Mike Cowan, as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, all of whom live in the OKC area, except 1 grandson who is in the Air Force and currently serving in Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Jessie Blanchard of OKC, Bill Blanchard of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Tommy Blanchard of Corpus Christi, TX, as well as 1 sister Lottie Lute of Redding, CA. He never met a stranger and always had a kind word and offered a mint to everyone he came in contact with. He was a fine Christian man, husband, and father. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held 10AM Monday, November 28, 2011 at Jernigan Memorial Church of the Nazarene with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5PM-8PM on Sunday evening at Bill Merritt Funeral Home.
