

James Curtis Smith III, also known as "Booney", was born December 2, 1950 to Lena Wheeler. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his Uncle Joe, who helped raise him. He married Earlene Johnson on July 23rd, 1971 in Denison, Texas. James was an entrepreneur by heart. He invested his career to trucking, transportation, and logistics. James was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served courageously in the U. S. Army for 4 years. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Bronze Stars, 1 Purple Heart, a Combat Infantry Badge, 1 Air Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. James accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed comedy, as J.C. loved to laugh, football, and above all, spending time with his family.
J.C. Smith is preceded in death by mother Lena Wheeler Barnes, and sister Andrea Parker.
J.C. Smith leaves to cherish his loving memory, a devoted wife of 46 years, Earlene J. Smith of Bethany, Oklahoma; daughter, Chrystal L. Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, Stephen V. Johnson and daughter-in-law Brandy M. Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, James C. Smith IV and daughter-in-law Iva M. Smith of Del City, Oklahoma; daughter, Tamera N. Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Corey M. Smith and daughter-in-law Veronica V. Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and his road companion/service dog, Tibby.
