

Johnny F. James, 74, of OKC went to be with the Lord April 19, 2014 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by family. He was born Feb 17, 1939 in Avard, OK, the son of Myrtle and John James. He was one of 10 siblings. On June 7, 1959 he married his best friend Bea James and together they had 3 children. After graduating from Waynoka High School in 1957 he began his career in lighting as an electrician; then managing a local store and ultimately opening his own lighting show room, James Lighting, Inc. in 1977. One of his great joys in life was getting to know people. He never forgot anyone or where they were from. Johnny was a longtime member of Central Homebuilders of OKC and of the Business Leaders of OKC. He is survived by his wife Bea; his daughter Debbie James and his son Kirby James, both of OKC; his son Kevin and wife Judy James of Rogers, AR; grandchildren Jordan James and Tyler James; his sister Janie and husband Vic Bartlow; his brother Jesse and wife Pam James of Covington, OK; his sister-in-law Loraine and husband Bill Powers of Crimora, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from noon to 8PM Wed, April 23, with family present from 6-8 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service, 6201 NW 39th Exp, Bethany, OK. Funeral services will be 11AM Thurs, April 24th. The family wishes to express thanks for all of the support of many prayers and cards and well-wishes during Johnny’s illness.
