

Martha Ellen (Blanton) White died on April 30, 2020 at the age of 94 of natural causes. She had lived at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City since 2004. She was born in Dallas, TX on October 26, 1925 to parents Charles Wesley Bell and Pearl Campbell Bell. She received a BA degree Magna Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1946, where she also met and married Dr. Fisher Blanton. They had three daughters, Cindy, Suzie and Judy. They served together in United Methodist Churches in Oklahoma and New Mexico. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and entertaining. They enjoyed world travel as tour hosts for twenty years until Fisher’s death in 1981. Martha Ellen gave book reviews for over 40 years.
She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, serving as Mobile Meals Coordinator, choir member, Sunday school teacher, Administrative Board member and participated in the United Methodist Women and Sorelle. She was a member of Chapter A1 of PEO, Gamma Book Club, Sigma Kappa Sorority and Patroness of Sigma Alpha Iota. Martha Ellen was married to Bill White from 1983 until 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Fisher Blanton and then Bill. She was also preceded in death by
her parents, her sister “Bennie” Crutchfield, granddaughter Stephanie Jenkinson and step grandson Paul Uekussa. She is survived by her daughters Cindy Graves and husband Gregg of Mart, Texas;
Suzie Jenkinson and husband Steve of San Antonio, TX; Judy Held and husband Gary of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Richard Graves, Buck Held and wife Reagan; Calley Duty and husband Derek; great grandchildren Halston, Hudson, Harrison Held and Naomi Duty. Also survived by step-children Jane Uekussa and husband George of Austin, TX.; Anne White of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jeff White of Oklahoma City. Step grandson Joseph Uekussa and wife Rika. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces. Due to COVID-19 a Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests memorial gifts to The R. Fisher Blanton Memorial Scholarship at Oklahoma City University, the Epworth Villa Benevolent Fund or Epworth at Home Hospice.
