Patricia Anna Barrett, born January 21, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on March 17, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of Jacob Hau and Anna Agnes Hennessey Hau, and a proud graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Okarche, OK.
On April 24, 1956, Patricia married Paul Joseph Barrett, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering commitment. They promised one another “until death do us part,” a vow they honored for forty five years until Paul’s passing on February 12, 2002. Their marriage was a testament to partnership, devotion, and enduring love.
Patricia lived a life grounded in faith and the simple joys that made each day meaningful. A devoted Catholic, she carried her beliefs with quiet strength and grace. She loved beginning her mornings with breakfast at Panera, where familiar faces and warm conversation became part of her daily rhythm. At home, she found peace in her garden, nurturing the flowers and plants that flourished under her gentle care.
Family was the heart of Patricia’s world. As one of eight siblings, she remained close to her brothers and sisters throughout their lives. Their visits were filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of easy companionship that only siblings share. She treasured those bonds deeply.
Patricia also loved vacationing with her family at their cabin in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where time slowed down and memories came easily. She delighted in attending the many Ozark arts and crafts festivals, enjoying the creativity, community, and tradition woven into each event.
Patricia stayed active in both her church and her community. She served as the chairperson of the Friends of the Library for the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area, sharing her love of learning and service. A master seamstress, she was invaluable to the Altar Committee and Banner Committee at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where her craftsmanship and devotion enhanced the beauty of the parish. She also supported the Putnam City Strings and Orchestra Association, contributing her time and talents to enrich the lives of young musicians.
As a stay at home mother, Patricia dedicated herself to creating a warm and welcoming home. She taught her children the skills that build both a household and a life—gardening, staining wood, home economics, and the countless small lessons that shape character and confidence. Her patience, creativity, and steady presence were gifts she passed down through generations.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Joseph Barrett, and by her siblings and their spouses: James Michael and Leona Catherine Hau, Joseph Vicktor Hau, Anthony Lawrence Hau, William Francis and Agnes Magdalene Kauper Hau, Marcella Marie (Hau) and Frank Aloysius Barthelme, Mary Agnes (Hau) and George Lawrence Barthelme, and Mildred Kathryn (Hau) and Charles Joseph Lodes.
Patricia leaves to carry on her legacy her children: Susan Barrett of Oklahoma City; Timothy Barrett and wife Kimberly of Johnson City, TN; John Barrett and wife Nancy of Stillwater, OK; and Janet Barrett of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her grandchildren Anna Alicia (Thomas) Hamilton, Audrey Nicole (Thomas) Garvey, Gillian Ann (Barrett) Clinton, Robyn Eileen (Barrett) Engle, Paul Francisco Barrett, Harrison Cole Barrett, and Kristen Marie Barrett; as well as eight great grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose devotion never wavered. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the values she instilled, and the memories she created.
