Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband Virgil Beard. She is survived by her son, Michael Beard, and wife, Kelley, her daughter; Rebecca Parker, and husband ,Randy; her nieces who she adopted as her own daughters, Mona Shield Payne, Elizabeth Handy, Diana Hudson and husband, Curtis; her grandchildren, Lauren King and husband, Sean; Tommy Parker, Hannah Parker, Joshua Payne, Jordan Payne, Ryan Hudson, and Sydney Hudson. She is survived by her siblings, Walter Miner and wife Opal, Jewell Williams, Bea Coleman and husband Carrol; sister-in-law, Evelyn Miner of OKC; several cousins, nieces and nephews (great and great-great).
Peggy was born to James Ernest and Bertie Olivia Miner and raised in Savanna, OK on a farm along with nine brothers and sisters. Upon graduating high school, she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her brother James and his wife Evelyn where she worked at TG&Y. Not long after moving there she met Virgil, the love of her life, at a Church Social while he was on military leave; they married just weeks after meeting. His career took them to Omaha, NE and then on to Bethany, OK where they settled in to raise a family. They were married for 53 years.
Peggy was a full time Mom and Housewife, in her free time she served as the church Treasurer at Tulakes Baptist Church for many years. Whenever she wanted something extra for the house or the family she would take on an extra job in addition to her full time duties at home; she worked as a Book Keeper, worked at H&R Block and also ran the Coffee shop in the back of Clark’s Bakery.
Peggy’s first mission in life was to make everyone feel at home at her house. She had a servant’s heart and would extend what she had to help others. She opened her home to her nieces Mona and Diana and loved them like her own. She took in both Virgil’s mom and her own mom ensuring they had everything they needed, were loved and were comfortable. Her home was the place where all the family would gather for special occasions. Her kitchen saw many Sunday dinners, Holiday feasts, and Birthday celebrations, no one every left her house hungry.
Peggy was a perfect example of what a Lady, a Wife, a Mom, a Grandmother, an Aunt, a Sister, and a Christian should be. She will be missed for now but we will meet again in Heaven.
A Celebration of Peggy's life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8th at Tulakes Baptist Church.
