

Robert M. “Bob” Jernigan, Sr. was born on September 28, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and joined his beloved wife, Judy, in Heaven on August 17, 2011. Bob spent his early childhood in Anadarko and moved to Enid where he graduated from Enid High School in 1953. After serving his country in the Army, Bob completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Oklahoma where he served as president of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Bob cherished the Sig Ep brotherhood and remained active in the Fraternity during his lifetime. Soon after, Bob and Judy were married and a family was born. In Tulsa, Bob worked for Channel 8 and relished a brief brush with “stardom” when he played “Captain Ben” on a local children’s television show. The young family returned to OKC and with Judy’s support, Bob graduated from OU Law School, Class of 1967. Bob enjoyed a long legal career in general practice with an emphasis in Municipal and Telecommunications Law and served as the City Attorney for Warr Acres for many years, as well as the City of Newcastle. Bob also served as a Municipal Judge in Bethany. Bob was an avid collector of stamps and WWII memorabilia; he had a passion for history and genealogy and spent many years researching his family tree. Bob also had a passion for all things Porsche, having restored two antique cars to their original beauty. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Judy, and his parents. He is survived by his children Don Pilgrim and wife Debbie; Tom Pilgrim; Lori Jernigan Maxwell and husband Jim Maxwell; Carla Jernigan; Robert M. Jernigan, Jr. and wife Misty; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his sister, Marla Zaloudeck; his niece Cheryl Holmes, and his nephew Ron Lukenbaugh, all residents of Enid, OK., and by numerous relatives in the Guthrie area. Services will be held 11AM, Monday, August 22, 2011 at All Souls’ Episcopal Church 6400 N. Penn Ave. OKC. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the church, and then a military burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3PM-5PM on Sunday at Bill Merritt Funeral Home.
