

Albert S. Travis, 93, of Johnson City, passed away on November 10, 2017 with his daughter by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Claude & Marjorie Travis; wife of 63 years, Janet; son, Jeffrey, brother, Walter. He is survived by his loving daughter, Patricia; brother, Claude Jr. Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judith & Robert Aitken, Palm Coast, FL; several nieces, nephews and his cat, Purrl. In his youth Albert was very active in the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He graduated from Westchester State Teacher's College in PA and taught mathematics for 24 years in the Binghamton School District. He enjoyed many summers tutoring children from more than 20 different countries at Camp Susquehannock in Brackney, PA. He was a wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed bowling, salmon fishing with his brothers in Canada, watching Boston Red Sox baseball, collecting baseball books and doing Sudoku puzzles. A special thank you to Dr. Ramanujan and Nancy Evans for many years of wonderful care and to Assisted Living at Hilltop for making him feel at home. Al was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenango Bridge. A private graveside service will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 216 Kattelville Road, Binghamton, NY 13901 or the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Rd #2, East, Syracuse, NY 13057.
