WEST, ALBERTA J. "BERT" Alberta J. "Bert" West, age 84, of Birmingham, passed away October 6, 2010. Bert attended Woodlawn High School and graduated in 1943 from Ramsey High School. She attended Birmingham Business College and went to work for Royal Globe Insurance Co. retiring in 1985. She has been a faithful member of South Roebuck Baptist Church since 1956 and worked many years with the childrens Departments. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Bettie Jones; brothers, Edwin Dennis Jones and Carl Jones; sisters, Lois Beatrice Jones, Marie J. Powell and Margaret J. Landerfelt. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert Oswald "Oz" West; nieces, Janet Cox (Robert); nephews, Eddie Powell (Melanie) and Larry Chafin (Debra); a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 12 noon at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Rev. Chris Crain officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 10:30 AM until service time. Memorials may be made to South Roebuck Baptist Church or John Croyle's Big Oak Ranch.
