

Anabel Avery Baxley of Birmingham, AL, and formerly of Pensacola, FL, passed away August 29, 2011, at the age of 93. She was born in Detroit, MI, graduated from the University of Michigan where she met her husband of 63 years, Robert V. Baxley, now deceased. Anabel was a homemaker who took enormous pride in her family. She shared a love of horses with her husband, loved traveling, and she was an avid reader and liked to share ideas. She was gracious and caring, volunteering her time at her library, the YWCA in Hartford, CT, and reading with elementary school children in Florida.
Survivors include her four children, Robert V. Baxley, Jr (Virginia) of Birmingham, Al, Mark A. Baxley (Mona) of Denver, Co, Catherine Dunkleberger (Jay) of Rexford, NY, and Anne LaFleur (Ron), of Ledyard, Ct; ten grandchildren: Julia Camp (husband John), Frances Atighi (Mazdak), Warren Baxley (Christine), Robert Baxley (Barbara), Andy Baxley, Jason Gifford (Megan), Robert Gifford, Kristen Cronin (Tucker), Jennifer Browning (Christopher) and Kathryn Huffman (Corey); and thirteen great grandchildren: Anabel Camp, Benjamin Camp, Razi Atighi, John Michael Baxley, Haley Baxley, Brandon Baxley, Cameron Baxley, Andrew Baxley, Grant Browning, Colin Browning, Jake Huffman, Isabella Huffman, and Caiden Huffman. Also considered in the family are Ulrich, Birgitt, and Anna Meditsch of Duisburg, Germany.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 3rd, at Independent Presbyterian Church, 3100 Highland Ave. S., Birmingham.
