Dr. Lisa-Ann Polack

Dr. Lisa-Ann Polack PhD passed peacefully from this life the evening of May 31, 2020. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Lisa- Ann was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica and moved to Florida with her sister Nadine and Mother Cynthia where she completed High School, College and her Graduate Accounting program at Florida Atlantic University.

Lisa was accepted for a Doctoral program at Texas A&M and graduated in May 2017. She joined the Collat School of Business faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2017 and taught classes up to two weeks before her passing.

A certified public accountant, Dr. Polack's research focused on tax strategy and corporate social responsibility. Her research was published in The CPA Journal and The Cooperative Accountant. She was very involved in the research community serving as a member of the American Tax Association and the American Accounting Association. Dr. Polack’s teaching interest focused on personal and corporate tax. Dr. Polack was a great professor. She was very dedicated to her students and provided mentoring that changed lives. Her students held her in high regard. They knew that she cared deeply about their success even as she pushed them hard to reach their full potential.

In her free time, Dr. Polack was a fitness and health enthusiast who spent many hours running, working out, and riding motorcycles with her fiancé and friends.

Lisa-Ann is survived by her son Christian Shivener, Fiancée Greg Shivener, Parents Cynthia & Dudley Polack, Siblings Steve, Charline, Tricia-Ann, and Nadine, five nieces Tracey-Ann, Danielle, Abigail, Ananda and Ashlee and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 6, 2020 at 2:00pm. Location Johns-Ridout's Funeral Parlors, 2116 University Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35233.

Because of COVID 19, the family is limiting attendance to the Celebration of Life for Dr. Lisa-Ann Polack to invitation only.
