of Birmingham, Alabama died Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Auburn, Alabama at the age of 93. She was born January 5, 1920 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Oliver Weston Fraser and Rebecca Otey Fraser of Birmingham, AL. She was a graduate of Phillips High School and went on to attend Brenau University before graduating from the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She received her Masters of Education at University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Edith was a lifetime member of The Cathedral Church of the Advent where she served as a Lay Reader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Sunday School teacher, and was a member of Saint Martha's Guild. She was employed as a civilian at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After her marriage, she and her husband owned and operated Keith's Clothing Company in Ensley, Alabama. Her final employment was with the Birmingham Board of Education as a Guidance Counselor. Additionally, Edith was a member of the Forest Park Garden Club and volunteered with WBHM Radio Reading Service and served as a reader for the blind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Jean Elliot (Rufus), Rebecca Cater (Frank), Mary Ford (O.L.), brother, O.W. Fraser (Faye), son-in-law Allen Graves and grand-daughter Sarah Ellen Graves.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, William Alfred Keith; sister Fey Rumbarger (Dave); her 4 children Edie Graves, William Keith, Alfred Keith (Jane), and Martha Keely (Marty); 6 grandchildren Olivia Graves, Howard Graves, Will Graves, Libby Keely, Mattie Rose Keely, and Margaret Keith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to The Cathedral Church of the Advent or your favorite charity .
The family will receive visitors from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the Clingman Commons at The Cathedral Church of The Advent on Friday, November 22, 2013. Burial service will be at 2:30 pm at The Advent. A private interment will follow.
We will miss our wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
