Elizabeth (Bettie) Ross Burge Edwards Windham Brickell died peacefully on December 15, 2020 at the age of 95. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 6, 1925 to the late Dullie Dumas and Alfred Martin Burge. She attended Birmingham grammer schools, Hewitt Trussville High School and Auburn University (then API) where she studied fine arts. While at Auburn, she met and married the late Roy Reed Edwards and they had three children; the late Linda Gayle Edwards Bloodworth Dean of Columbus Georgia, Reed Alan Edwards (Karen) of Birmingham, and Kenley Martin Edwards (Gayle) of Monroe, Georgia. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Linda Gail Bloodworth Land, Beth Marie Bloodworth, Andy Edwards, Amy Edwards Luster, Kelly Edwards Lee, and Kristi Edwards Roberson, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She was widowed three times, also marrying the late John W. Windham in 1965 and M. C. "Brick" Brickell in 2004.
Bettie was a long-time member of Wilson Chapel Methodist Church and the Richard Godwin/Secan Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Elgithin Literary Club and the Watercolor Society of Alabama. She enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, watercolor painting and visiting with friends and family.
