Her life was defined by the deep bonds she forged with those she loved and her unwavering commitment to nurturing and supporting them.
After being born on July 26, 1939, in Atlanta Georgia to Morris and Rosilyn Arnovitz, she moved to Birmingham Alabama where she was adopted by Al Toranto, who after marring Rosilyn, had two siblings, Terry Toranto and Bunny Toranto Sundock. As a mother to three sons, Jeff, Kenny, and Andy, and daughter-in-laws, Amanda, Julie, Susan, Sally and Jen (of blessed memory), Dee was a guiding light, offering her children unconditional love, wisdom, and support. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren Josh (Kelly), Matt (Dana), Alex (Mason), Abby (Josh), Sam and Annie, Brandon, Chase, Jordon, Victoria, Dylan and Matthew, and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Chelsey Caroline, Hallie, James (and three sons soon to be born), who knew her as a source of endless affection, stories, and lessons that will live on in their hearts.
A devoted wife, Dee and her husband James Rotenstreich (known by family and friends as “Jimbo”) shared 65 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Together, Dee and Jimbo created a family that reflects the values of care, respect, and unity that she held dear.
Dee’s kindness, generosity, and love for family, friends and life touched everyone who knew her. Dee’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends, who were blessed to experience the depth of her love and the strength of her spirit.
Dee’s legacy of love, compassion, and family unity will be carried forward by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though Dee’s presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved her and who think of her daily.
