
Lawrence Warner, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Beth (Donaldson) Warner. Lawrence was born in Birmingham on October 2, 1924 to parents Tybie and Henry Warner. He graduated in June 1942 from Ramsay High School in Birmingham. Lawrence went to one year of college at University of Alabama before enlisting in the U.S. Army in December 1942 just after his 18th birthday. He went to Camp McCoy in Wisconsin for 1.5 years and then served proudly during WWII starting in 1944 in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He met the Russian soldiers in Zwickau, Germany at the end of the war. His service ended December 1945 and he was honorably discharged. Lawrence returned to the University of Alabama in 1946 and graduated in 1949 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He worked in New Orleans for 9 years and then to Atlanta where he worked for 15 years. While in Atlanta, he met Beth Donaldson. In Atlanta, he worked for Consolidated Realty Co. and then started his company, L & R. One of his projects was remodeling the religious school at The Temple. Lawrence and Beth married in 1974 and moved to Birmingham in 1976. Lawrence was a long-time member of Temple Emanu-El. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Martie Buchalter and Evelyn Silverstein and his brother, Irvin Warner. He is survived by his nieces Carol Mittel (Michael), Helene Elkus, Jan Kiersky (John), and nephews David Silverstein (Susan), Barry Silverstein (Louise), Greg Warner (Louise), and Ralph Buchalter (Kent). A private Graveside Service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
