

Margaret Walker Grubb, 98, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 20, 2013. Margaret was born in Birmingham on February 5, 1915 to Margaret Latady Walker and Joseph Paul Walker, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Irwin Grubb, Jr., sister, Eugenia Walker Speake and brother, Joseph Paul Walker, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Eugenia Schanbacher, Katherine (Kitty) Coleman (Tom) of Montgomery, AL and Margaret Walker Grubb; grandchildren O. W. (Billy) Schanbacher, III (Donna), Mary Ann Schanbacher Grammas, Lucy Coleman Gaede (Tony), Kat Coleman Huff (John) of Auburn, AL; great grandchildren William and Helen Katherine Schanbacher, Mary Margaret and Virginia Grammas, Henry and Thomas Gaede and Lucy Huff; nephew Joseph Paul Walker, III of Dallas, TX, nieces Barbara Bush (Roger) of Comfort, TX, Clarissa Chandler (Warren) of San Carlos, CA, great nephew Archie I. Grubb, II (Mary Lynn) of Montgomery, AL and sister-in-law Helen C. Walker, Dallas, TX. Margaret was a member of St. Mary's on the Highlands Episcopal Church. She had a lifelong love and appreciation of music and art which was reflected in her involvement with The Village Painters, Metropolitan Opera Guild of which she served as a Regional Auditions Chairman, Past President of the Birmingham Music Club, member of the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Red Mountain Garden Club. She was also a charter member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on December 28, 2013 at 2:00PM at St. Mary's on the Highlands Episcopal Church, 1910 11th Avenue, South, Birmingham, AL. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice .
