Nelda Gay White

November 13, 1935- April 6, 2013

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd K. Gay and Alice C. Gay, a sister, Sarah "Tweet" Gay Collins and two beloved sons, Lloyd Gregory White and Bryan Gay White. She is survived by son, James Kenneth White II and granddaughter, Jamie Alison White. She also leaves behind a sister, Mary Alice West, multiple nephews, a niece, as well as multiple grand nephews and grand nieces. Numerous cousins, as well as other relatives and friends survive her.

Nelda cherished all the time she spent with her children, sisters, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, granddaughter, nieces and nephews. Most of all, the friends she worked with throughout the decades including Emily Simpson and her family.

A 1954 graduate of Lawrence County High School, she also attended The University of Alabama, University of Montevallo and University of North Alabama.

She retired from Fayette Medical Center with 12 years of service, Baptist Health System with 20 years of service and was also employed by Sterilon Laboratories for 10 years.

A member of McElwain Baptist Church since 1987, a celebration of her life will be held at the church located on 4445 Montevallo Road, Birmingham, AL 35213 this Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 6:00 PM followed by a receiving time.
