

Richard A Wehby, age 93, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He is survived by his children Kellie Wehby (Tony) Tudisco and Richard A. (Karline) Wehby Jr. Grandchildren Katee (DR) Forrester, Molli, Chloe, Sam and Ben Tudisco. Courtney Patterson, Joseph(Gracie) Wehby, Richard "Anthony" Wehby III and Alyssa Wehby. Great Grandchildren: Sophia Patterson, Frances and Mary Reeves Forrester. Sister-in-law Dot Wehby as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Frances Jean Wehby, Father George Joseph Wehby, Mother Minnie Stephens Wehby. Brothers: Jimmy, Joe, Mike, Sidney and Oscar Wehby. Sisters: Adele Saab and Mary Nell Bohorfoush. Richard was born and raised in Birmingham in the Southside community. He attended Glen Iris and OLS elementary schools, Ramsey High and graduated from John Carroll High School. He was an exceptional athlete in football, baseball and track where he competed at a varsity level all four years. He had the opportunity to play football at the collegiate level but enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served three and a half years and did an eighteen month tour in Korea. He was injured in hand to hand combat and was a recipient of The Purple Heart Medal. At the end of his service he was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant. After returning home he started his own plumbing company which he had until he retired in his eighties. He was a lifelong member of Saint Elias Maronite Catholic Church and The Cedars Club of Birmingham where he was very involved in different aspects over the years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend with a giving and loving heart. His faith in God and Family was strong. He will be forever missed but his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday December 30, 2023 at Saint Elias Maronite Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9-+10:30 AM. Rosary at 10:30 AM and Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 AM. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to The Bell Center for Early Intervention, The Exceptional Foundation, Unless U or Saint Elias Maronite Catholic Church.
