
KELLY, RUTH F. Ruth F. Kelly died May 30, 2011 after an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be at 11:00 at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 2, 2011. The family will greet friends at the church following the service. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank S. Kelly. Also, preceding her in death were her parents Rev. and Mrs. James L. Fincher and her sisters Estelle Freeman and Edna Lois Blacklidge. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Kathy Stonecipher, Wanda Bailey, Robert Freeman, Dawn Beasley, Regena Blacklidge and Kenny Blacklidge, eight great nieces and nephews, and four great-great nieces. She is also survived by her step-children Karen Hartley and Dr. Timothy Kelly and Karen's children Jenny, Brian and Michael Hartley. Ruth retired from AT&T after 38 years and then started her own business with BeautiControl. Ruth was a very active member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, serving on various committees. Ruth's charity was not limited to her church work. She was involved in many civic endeavors including the Salvation Army serving as President of the Women's Auxiliary. She was a member of the Heart Guild of Birmingham and Telephone Pioneers of America. She was very involved with the arts and was a member of the Opera Guild of Birmingham, Music Guild of Birmingham, Amulet Dance Club and supported the Alabama Ballet and Alabama Symphony. Pallbearers are Carl Bailey, Brent Bailey, Larry Beasley, Robert Freeman, Brian Hartley and Michael Hartley. Honorary pallbearers are John Stonecipher, Dr. Stuart Bean, Joe Zasa, Rev. Leland Caulder, David Beasley, Dr. Steve Mallette, and Joseph Spransy. The family would like to thank Dr. Allison Daggett and the nurses and staff at Brookwood Medical Center SICU for their dedicated and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice
