

Serena Casey Vann died on May 3, 2022 at the age of 78 in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Known to her family and friends as “Mike”, she graduated from Converse College and was very active in the community both civically and socially.
She was a member of the Linly-Heflin Unit which gives educational scholarships to Alabama women and she was an avid gardener and a long-time member of the Little Garden Club.
Mike was a lifelong member of Mountain Brook club where she met her husband, Billy, of 56 years when she was in 7th grade! She was a superior camper and loved camping, hiking and any outdoor activity. She completed multiple canoe and camping trips in Canada with her husband and later with family. Mike was an equestrian, a swimmer, and one of the most thoughtful gift-givers.
She is survived by her husband William Oliver Vann; her four children Will Vann (Jaci), Suzanne McDonald (Rob), Serena Vann, and Jane Sheue (Jesse); her eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Vann, Connor McDonald, Robert McDonald, Katie McDonald, Stella Henry, Sadie Henry, Vann Sheue, and Serena Sheue, and her two sisters Pat Gillespy and Poodle Pipes.
A memorial service for Mike will be held at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church on Monday, May 9th at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends at the church at 2:00PM prior to the service.
