
Born August 6, 1952, left his earthly place to go home to his Father and those who have gone before him on August 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Tommy was a graduate of John Carroll High School and Auburn University. He was a longtime member of the Screen Actors Guild. While his first love was his Goddaughter, Holly McWhirter Bratton; his second love was the performance arts. He practiced his craft in New York City, NY; Orlando, FL; Los Angeles, CA; and Birmingham, AL. He also taught at the Alabama School of Fine Arts and was the founder of Actors Outlet. Tommy truly loved being a part of the growth and development of his students at Alabama School of Fine Arts and Actors Outlet while they were pursuing their dreams. He has enjoyed the companionship of his fellow colleagues at ASFA as well as those he knew during this acting career. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL. Tommy is preceded in death by his Parents: Huberta and Joe Canary; his Grandparents; Aunts, Uncles and several Cousins. Tommy is survived by his Goddaughter Holly McWhirter Bratton; several other adored Godchildren; and several cousins in Kentucky. A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held on Sunday, August 18, at Alabama School of Fine Arts 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alabama School of Fine Arts Foundation in memory of Tommy Canary. Go into the night sweet prince, we shall meet again.
