Thracie Lexine Pace passed away on Saturday Feb 22, 2020 in Birmingham Alabama from complication from pneumonia. Thracie was born June 3rd, 1959 in Butler Alabama. During her time in Butler Thracie graduated from Patrician Academy and was Homecoming queen. After high school Thracie moved to Birmingham Alabama, where she made a home with her common law husband, Charles Smith. Thracie was the manager of the Friends Bookstore at the Birmingham Public Library. Thracie loved to read and loved to help others have access to as many books as possible. She was loved by many and truly loved her job at Friends. She helped usher in reading programs for children as well as the elderly at nursing homes and other facilities. Thracie was also an amazing cook. She learned all her wonderful cooking skills from her beloved grandmother, Fannie Allen Crenshaw. Thracie spent many summers with her grandmother in the kitchen learning how to can, preserve, and more. She was extremely creative and saw the beauty of art in all things. She loved God and her family. Thracie is survived by her Mother Maxine Pace, Aunt Margie Richardson, Brother Preston Pace, Niece Taylor Rae Newton, and Nephews Braxton and Greyson Pace. She is preceded in death by her grandparents: JC Allen and Fannie Allen Crenshaw, Father Martin Pace, Nephew Damon Pace, and Brother Blane Garrison. There will be a visitation at Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Parlors 2116 University Blvd. Birmingham, AL 35233 on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Butler City Cemetery in Butler, Alabama at 4:00 PM.
