Eleanor W. Matthews, 80, of Lavallette, passed away September 27, 2000 at her home. She helped in the operation of the Leonberg Funeral Home, Medford, which her husband purchased in 1972, until they sold the business in 1983. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Keyport, and the Keyport Literary Society. Born in Freehold, she lived in Keyport before moving to Lavallette.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Leon; a daughter, Joan Hunt of Keyport; two sons, Dewey Matthews of Medford and Josh Matthews of Glen Ridge; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many friends.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Funeral Service will be held at 11.00 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hazlet. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
