Evelyn passed away, sadly, on Sept 3rd, 2023.
She was born in Delano, CA, to Pilar and Roque Barreraz. She was 4th of 7 brothers and sisters.
She later had two sons, Randy and Ricky. She then met the love of her life, Richard and was married in July of 1959.
Evelyn and Richard moved to Riverside, CA, in the early 1960’s, where they had their daughter, Barbara, and a few years later, Michelle.
Evelyn was a stay at home mother and raised her children and her sister, Marina, after the death of their mother, Pilar.
In the early 1970’s, she went to work for Gay & Larry’s restaurant where she worked for a number of years. In the mid 1970’s, she went to work for Toro Irrigation for more than 25 years. She very much enjoyed her work and the many friends she made there.
Sadly, in 2002 her beloved Richard passed away from cancer.
To occupy her time, she became active with the senior center as a volunteer, serving meals and teaching bread making classes, and made many friends.
She then took up quilting at the senior center and member of the Quilter’s Guild. As a result, many of us would become recipients of her beautiful work. She loved her quilting.
She retired from Toro in 2003 and, unexpectedly, her eldest son, Randy, passed away in June 2007.
Evelyn loved life and loved her family and pet dogs with all of her heart. She was a committed and devoted wife and mother. She was a loving sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and son, Randy, 4 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her sister, Marina (Paul), son, Ricky (Angel), and daughters, Barbara and Michelle (Randy). Grandchildren, Isaac, Jesse, Brian, Cristina, David, Valerie, Britany, Brianna, Cheyanne and Randi and numerous great-grandchildren.
