Felix N. Minjarez, 75, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in Fontana, California. He was born on January 18, 1946 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico to Antonio Minjarez and Mercedes Nevarez. He became a father at the young age of 18 and he worked hard all his life to provide for his family.
Felix met the love of his life, Maria Socorro Lugo, in 1958. They married on November 9, 1964, had 4 children, and enjoyed 56 years of life together. He was a resident of Fontana, California for the last 21 years. He started working at a very young age and worked 48 years in construction. He worked for Alco Construction in Los Angeles, and commuted for 25 years from Mira Loma and Fontana to Lynwood, CA. He was a finish carpenter, cabinet maker, and Shop Foreman prior to his retirement at age 62.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Socorro, his daughter Anna (Daniel), 3 sons Julio (Carey), Felix (Darlene), and David (Nadine); 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Rita, Evangelina, Ernestina, and Ana, his brother Antonio; half-brothers George, Bobby, Rogelio, half-sister Genoveba; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Felix was affectionally known as “Chely”. He will be remembered as a man who adored his family, a hard-working man who took pride in his work, a good friend with a great sense of humor, an enthusiastic soccer fan, and for his love of music and dancing! He left a lasting impression wherever he went.
He was a devoted family man, a man of his word, funny and unapologetic. He had a personal connection with God that was very evident even in his final moments. His legacy and memory will live on through all those who knew and loved Mr. Felix “Chely” Minjarez.
