Kathy Ruth McDowell

Kathy Ruth McDowell passed away on February 2, 2025 in Pomona, CA. She was born on March 7, 1957 in Pomona, CA to her parents, John Wesley McDowell and Blanch Bernice McDowell (Née Brown). She was the youngest of 3 children with two older brothers, Robert Eugene McDowell and Gary Curtis McDowell. Kathy never married nor had any children. Despite this, she was both a loving aunt to her nephew as he grew up and to her great niece and nephew. Kathy was an active, involved, and beloved employee at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for over 30 years working in various departments throughout the hospital during her time there. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with friends, going to the beach, seeing the latest movies, and helping to care for local stray cats through various agencies. Kathy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in passing by her father, John; her mother, Blanch; her oldest brother, Robert; then her youngest brother, Gary. She is survived by her brother Robert’s son, her nephew, Jesse McDowell and his children, her great nephew, Jude, and her great niece, Harper Jean.

She will forever be remembered for her selfless love and dedication to helping her great nephew find his voice.

Service info: Graveside services will be at 10am on February 17th at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, CA. Kathy will be laid to rest near her beloved mother. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter in her name.
