On Thursday, June 30th, 1938, Maggie Faye Vernon Davis was born to John Silas Vernon and Lilian Mae Melton in Bienville, Louisiana. Her family later moved to California, where she met and married her late husband, Milton Lee Davis. They were married for forty-five years before his passing, and from this union they raised eight children.
Although she attended nursing school for a while, she found real joy in making a home for her husband and children. She could always be found in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for the family. She enjoyed spending her time with loved ones and friends. “Faye” as she was affectionately called, made sure that the people around her were always taken care of. She visited with her friends often, and whenever her grandchildren came to visit, there was lots of love and laughter. She could often be found watching old movies, like Bonanza and Gunsmoke or tennis with her grandkids. She also had a great love for reading; ample time was spent reading her bible, health books, and books containing home remedies. If you came to her with a pain or an ailment, she would say, “let me see, I’ll figure it out,” but never forgetting her Lord because she knew nothing was too small or big for Him to handle. She always said, “I prayed to Jesus, Lord just help me, and He has never let me down.” Her favorite scripture fits perfectly, Psalms 23, The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
On Monday, August 9th, 2021, at Desert Valley Medical Center in Victorville, California, she was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory eight children: Earl Wayne (Jeanine), Valerie Gail (Ben, deceased), Rory (Michaela), Monica June, Helene (Randy, deceased), Marilyn Faye, Eric Lee, and Jennifer (Shawn), 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
