I had to leave you laughing, because that is what I do
I know I left some tears behind, I know I left pain too
But I was needed else where, and I had to get there fast,
I'm sorry for the current pain, but I promise it won't last.
Remember me by my smile, by jokes and my charm,
I'm in the heavens now, where I can be done no harm.
I hope I left you smiling, please remember me by my glow
Know that it's love I felt for you all even if I didn't always let it show.
My biggest joy in life was joking and the laughter we all have had,
From family gatherings to being honored by being a dad.
I was a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandfather, and a partner.
I had the best of times, and would trade not one for any other.
I hope I left you laughing, but know that in my heart,
Joy is all I want for you all, even as we part.
