

William “Bill” Malcolm Collins, Jr., age 71, of Yucaipa passed away Saturday, March 28 2020. He was born January 4, 1949 in San Bernardino to Dorothy (Waggoner) Collins and William Malcolm Collins Sr. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School in 1967. He received his AS from San Bernardino Valley College and his BS in civil engineering from Cal Poly Pomona.
Bill began his career with San Bernardino County in 1973 as a Junior Civil Engineer and in 2010 retired as a Public Works Engineer IV with 37 years of service with the Department of Public Works. One of Bill’s greatest achievement was when he took over the Etiwanda/San Sevaine Flood Control Project, a multi-million dollar project that took long hours of dedication and perseverance. He was passionate about his job and had much respect for the gentlemen that worked under his supervision.
Bill’s pride and joy was his daughter and two grandchildren. He loved watching his grandson, Hunter play football and granddaughter, Skyler cheer throughout the years. He was so proud of their recent accomplishments; Hunter becoming a Correctional Deputy with Riverside Sheriff’s Department and Skyler being accepted to California Baptist University’s Nursing Program.
Bill was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL football team and enjoyed watching their games every chance he could. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed whitewater rafting and camping with friends. He was survived by his daughter, Robin Albritton; grandson, Hunter Washburn; granddaughter, Skyler Washburn of Yucaipa, California; his brother, Thomas “Tom” Collins of Bloomington, California and his sister, Martha Voget of Lava Lake, Idaho.
