It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Yvonne Dolores Hebert Jenkins. After a two day battle with sepsis due to an intestinal perforation, she entered eternal life, peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Yvonne lived a very full 88 years and was extremely active up until the week of her passing. She was born in Natchez, Mississippi to Adam Whitney Hebert and Pauline Francis Lanehart. Being the oldest of six children, she definitely developed her maternal instincts early on. Affectionately known as “Shorty”, she attended Cathedral High School, graduating in 1954 as their first ever Homecoming Queen. Four years later, while working as a secretary for an insurance company, Yvonne met a young sign designer by the name of Bob Jenkins when he showed up at her office to design a sign for them. After dating 18 months, Bob and Yvonne were married on August 9, 1959. That December, Bob left for the west coast and Yvonne followed three months later, reuniting in Long Beach, California. By the end of 1960, they resided in San Bernardino, California and began their family in 1961 when Jancee Lynn was born. Robert Jay followed in 1966, Teri Gwyn in 1974 and Jeffrey Glen in 1975. Although the family moved several times between 1960 and 1974, including a couple of residencies in South Lake Tahoe, they finally settled into their beloved Rialto home where Yvonne resided for 50 years. She raised four successful children in that home, who each had two children of their own. Although Yvonne held odd jobs here and there, for the most part she was a stay at home mom until 1990 when she took a position in the ASB office at Eisenhower High School. She worked there 27 years until her retirement in 2019. In the spring of 2024, she sold her Rialto home and moved into her granddaughter Kylie’s Riverside, California home, with her beloved (and spoiled rotten) dog, Shadow.
Yvonne never met a stranger and she was truly a mom to everyone. She had so many dear, lifelong friends that she truly considered family. She was well loved because she loved so well. Those that knew her were sure to have encountered her southern hospitality and great sense of humor. She loved to laugh, loved to dance and she was especially adept at making her grandchildren laugh at her antics. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate her kid’s and grandkid’s achievements, games, graduations, meets - you name it, she was there. So many of her prayers for her family were answered this year and her heart was full knowing that everyone of her kids and grandkids were in a great place - minds, bodies and souls. We believe that she went home to the Lord, happy, content and full of joy to see her husband, Bob, sister Karen Hebert, brother Laney Hebert and best friend Vicki Skeens, as well as her parents who preceded her in death many years before. She truly left a lasting legacy of love, laughter, family and faith. She will be missed by so many.
Yvonne is survived by her four children, Jancee of San Clemente, Robert Jay of Loma Linda, Teri of Highland, Jeff of Beaumont, her eight grandchildren, Taylor, Shaina, Kylie, Chase, Hannah, Brayden, Kolbie, Collin and one great-grandson, Warren, who was born to Taylor and her husband Charlie six weeks before her passing. She is also survived by her sister Maureen Irby of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, brother, Whitney Hebert of Monroe, Louisiana, brother, Leslie Hebert of Thailand, sister in law, Betty Monday of Russellville, Arkansas and sister in law, Pat Savage of Brea, California.
We are confident that her faith in Jesus Christ has given her eternal life and that there will be a glorious day when we get to be welcomed by her with all of her southern hospitality into eternity.
