Colleen L. Naborowski,83, of Bloomington, slipped away in her husband’s embrace at her residence on October 5, 2023. She was born August 26, 1940, in Bloomington, IL, to Clyde (Ray) and Dorothy (Beyer) Cushing. They preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing are her son, Jeffery Snavely; sister, Marilyn (Michael) Adelman; niece, Colleen Adelman.
Colleen was a vibrant member of the Catholic Community in Bloomington/Normal. Her great delight was visiting her homebound members of that community as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. Colleen attended Holy Trinity grade school as well as graduating from Trinity High School where she was homecoming queen, 1957 and Miss Merry Christmas in the 1958 Christmas Parade. She loved the Eucharist, her rosary, crocheting, and visiting with anyone and everyone; especially older folks who came through her line at Kroger on Main Street, where she worked for 20 years. Colleen also served as an independent hairdresser throughout her life.
Surviving are her loving husband of 11 years: David; son: Jason Snavely; grandchildren: Jack and Max Snavely; daughter-by-marriage: Megan (Naborowski) and David Penfold; and grandchildren: Aubrianna, Avery, Bennett, and Alice Penfold; granddaughter: Kyleigh ((Jeffery/Christine (Beaver) Snavely) and (Cole) Callahan; Kyleigh’s brother: Brandon Beaver. Also surviving are Colleen’s sister, Carolyn (James) Grayas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation rites have been accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, IL, on November 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Doug Hennessy officiating mass. Deacon Bob Hermes will deliver homily. Colleen's cremated remains will be laid to rest at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, following service. A luncheon will follow burial at Historic St. Patrick, Parish Hall, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the Chapel Renovation Fund at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
