

Born July 20, 1949 in West Union, IA to Harold and Madonna Elaine (Maddigan) Sapp; he married Penny Crowder on August 2, 1969 in Normal, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Penny Sapp of Hudson; son, Michael (Shirleen) Sapp of Bloomington; granddaughters, Madison (Eric) Gonzalez of Normal and McKenna Sapp (Josh Graves) of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Frank (Emily) Sapp of New Jersey and Dennis (Verlinda) Sapp of Bloomington; and sisters, Judy (Art) Donaldson of Bloomington and Theresa Denison of Florida.
He was a US Army Veteran.
David was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Traci; brothers, Roy and Gene Sapp and sisters, Elaine Harper and Sallie Harroun.
David truly loved catering and dedicated his catering business to his daughter Traci by naming it Pnut Catering in Bloomington after his nickname for her. He operated Pnut Catering from 1995 until retiring in 2011. Prior to his business he spent many years working for Canteen at State Farm in Bloomington.
Remembered as a quiet man, he was an avid bowler with two 300 games to his credit and he loved to golf. He deeply loved and was always proud of his granddaughters, attending as many of their sporting events as possible.
He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 3, 2026 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington with Father David Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral, beginning at 10:00 am Saturday until 11:45 am, also at the funeral home.
