

Dorothy Dean Dunn, 90 of Normal, IL., passed away Monday, February 6th, 2017, of dementia, at Heritage Manor Normal, long-term compassionate care facility. She was born Wednesday, November 24, 1926, to Monroe & Frances “Sug” (Hitchens) Bell in Macomb, Mississippi. Monroe’s parents were Eddie Bell Sr. & Jane “Janie” White-Bell.
Dorothy was lovingly called “Deana,” by her family, friends, and those who knew and loved her. Deana was a family member of Zion Temple Missionary Baptist Church and later Mt. Carmel MB Church on 42nd. St. Chicago, [Rev. L.A. Robinson]. She was educated in the Chicago Public School System at Forestville Elementary & DuSable High School along with her brother and sisters. Deana worked in Chicago’s Bronzeville Historic District for The Supreme Life Insurance Co. The First Black Owned and Operated Insurance Company in the Northern United States, in the Supreme Life Building now located at 3501 S. King Dr. It is now a historic national land mark.
In 1994, Deana moved to Normal and later to Bloomington IL. She joined Wayman African American Episcopal Church and worked at Green Thumb-Senior Service Community Employment & Training program in Bloomington.

Her Son - Thomas Dunn Jr. [1945 to 1994] his children & their families: Alberta Evans-Billings: Daughter- Aletha, Son-Thomas Dunn III, & Daughter-Latonya and Dorothy Wamble: Daughter-Tonia.
Her Daughter - Glory Jean (Jay C.) Hardy, their children & families: Davita (Curtis) Hardy-Torry [1965 to 2015] and her children: Vinita Hardy, DeAngelo Hardy & Shatara Torry; Marisa (Bonnie)Hardy and her Daughters: Marty & Keasia. And Latonya (Gregory) Graham, and Daughters: Theresa, Felissa (RIP), Sonya, & Physilla.
Her Daughter - Lyndetta Dean (Charles R.) Alsberry, their sons: Charles R. Alsberry III, and children: Heather Anderson - Daughter Kali; Cory McAllister- Daughter Alivia; Angie Chow- Son Alexander and Jonathan E. Alsberry.
Mother Eunice Dunn of Bloomington, her Children & their families: Son - Anthony (Linda) Shabazz, and their families, Kareem, Patrick & Kamela, and their families.
Daughter - Donna Agusta Dunn and her children, Son- Isaac (Alana) Akins, & Daughter Amari & Francena Turner Daughter-Epiphany; Daughter- Unica (Mario) Sullivan, and their children, Daja & Quan.
Her blessings, five generations of Grand-children, Wayman AME Church family members, friends and a host of loving Bell family members, their families and friends.
Her Nieces and Nephews: Brenda, Mary, Eddie Jr., Camilla, Michael, Reginald, Diana, Pamela, & Adrienne, Gregory-RIP, Albert Jr.-RIP, Janet-RIP, Ernest, Joanne, Thomas, & Louis.
On Saturday, February 11th, at 5:00pm a Memorial Service and Entombment will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd., in Bloomington,IL.
