
BLOOMINGTON, IL - Elizabeth A. “Libby” Watkins died unexpectedly May 21, 2010 at her home. There will be no services. A private entombment will be a later date. She was cremated as she had requested and East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Libby was born February 10, 1938 in Lincoln, IL, daughter of Hiram F. and Mary E. Robinson. She married Charles M. Watkins on June 10, 1955 in Bloomington, IL.
Survivors include her proud and loving husband, Charles; daughter, Anna Marie (Luke) Richmond; brother, William “Bill” (Patty) Robinson; sister, Lorena-Jo (Terry) Barrett; many nieces and nephews and most importantly, many good friends and loved ones.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Rebecca Gayle “Becky” Born, who died in an auto-crash in 1994; her parents; a very special brother, Hiram F. “Bub” Robinson and a sister, Susan Walker.
Libby was a graduate of Bloomington High School, she maintained a straight “A” average throughout her schooling career. She won the Betty Crocker Homemakers Award, receiving a scholarship and later attended Illinois State University, completing two years.
She worked as a private secretary to three local bank presidents and working later at her husband’s watch and clock shop, Timepiece Limited in Normal, IL. She was also a licensed real-estate agent, working with several local brokers. As a building contractor, she supervised the building of many beautiful homes, which also included her husband’s business building.
Libby had many hobbies and was very proficient at all she pursued. She was a lifetime member of the African Violet Society of America, and a National Judge, traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada, where she would judge flower shows and display her plants.
She was a lifetime member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and competed in many matches, several years being the Ladies State Champion in Illinois. She also competed at the National level, winning several awards with her husband.
Libby will be deeply missed by all who’s lives she touched by her life.
