Evelyn was born November 2, 1934, in Lexington, the daughter of Ray and Catherine Bowman Clark. She married Delmar Thedens on August 6, 1955, in Colfax. They were married for 63 years. He survives.
Also surviving are their children; Trent J. (Dee) Thedens of Colfax; Abby L. (Dirk) Dallman of Springfield; and Mary A. (Brandon) Weber of Normal; three grandchildren, Ryan (Patty) Thedens of Cooksville; Lindsey (Bryan) Price of Bloomington; Holden Weber of Normal; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Clark and a nephew, Darnel Clark, both of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Grace.
Evelyn graduated from Octavia High School in Colfax, class of 1952. Evelyn worked for State Farm Insurance beginning in 1952. Later in life, she was a secretary for Colfax Grade School. She and her daughter owned and operated “The Flower Den” in Colfax. Her last job was Secretary at I.S.U., Normal, Bone Student Center, retiring January 1, 2000. Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington for many years.
She and her husband loved to travel in the United States, especially to Colorado. They made 39 trips to that wonderful state.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Thedens, Brandon Weber, Holden Weber, Darrel Clark, Bryan Price and Dirk Dallman.
